DES/ORDEN - PERFORMANCE
Des/Orden is a live performance collaboration by visual artist Leslie Molina and cellist Jess Whelligan. The artists use a combination of spatial art installations, fiber interventions, sound elements, and mixed-media paintings. The project explores the juxtaposition of chaos and order, being/nothingness, us/the other, creating a space to examine these relations in real time and with both artists engaged in a process of creation and destruction.
Des/Orden creates an immersive audiovisual environment for audiences to experience and reflect on disorder, improvisation, transience, spontaneity. A cello performance with bursts of improvisation creates an unpredictable and captivating atmosphere; threads are used in real time at a large scale to reveal illustrations and shape the space. The result is a rich experience that transports the audience directly into the complicated, layered, unpredictable beauty of the present, transforming the space into a living composition.
